This project introduces the principles of research and analysis as the basis for creative thinking. I explored recording research in visually stimulating, appropriate and informative ways using various methods to inform the design.
The brief focused on the design development and presentation of tailored outfits influenced by a craft-based maker/product my own research informed. The personal ability to understand the characteristics of different clothes concerning tailoring techniques and source a range of materials appropriate to bespoke tailoring is central to this project.
Building upon my approach to the design process and research gathering, I might select one craft-based maker – for instance, a jeweller, weaver or ceramicist – and gather primary and secondary research to develop my knowledge of the values and design heritage informing their products.
My collection was designed in response to personal investigation and inspired by my own primary research with a view to developing a contemporary narrative. I gathered inspiration from the most iconic products from Cartier, the king of jewellery and jeweller for kings.
